Postdoctoral Fellowship
Develop a new research contribution beyond your doctorate.
SABI University’s Postdoctoral Fellowship provides an approved research affiliation, academic mentorship and structured review of a defined project. It is designed for doctorate holders who want to extend a line of inquiry, develop a manuscript or translate advanced research into professional practice.
The fellowship is a non-degree research program. Successful completion leads to a fellowship completion certificate and research record, rather than an additional doctorate. It does not constitute an employment appointment or a funded postdoctoral position.

Research Plan and Mentorship
At the start of the fellowship, you agree a research question, contribution beyond the doctorate, methods, outputs and schedule. The plan identifies ethics and data requirements, access to evidence, research resources and the support provided by your mentor.
Your research support includes at least one scheduled mentor meeting per month during active research, an eight-week progress review and written feedback on an agreed draft normally within fifteen business days. The offer names the available research resources and any publication guidance; journal acceptance is decided by the journal and is not guaranteed.
Research Structure
| Component | ECTS | US semester credits |
|---|---|---|
| Approved research plan and ethics | 6 | 3 |
| Advanced research | 36 | 18 |
| Manuscript and research translation | 12 | 6 |
| Final research review and portfolio | 6 | 3 |
| Total non-degree research training | 60 | 30 |
The credits describe assessed, non-degree research training under SABI’s institutional workload allocation. They do not constitute a further academic degree or a qualification level above the doctorate.
Assessment and Completion
Completion is recorded against the approved research plan.
Completion requires the agreed research outputs, an account of your own contribution, a presentation with academic questions and an approved final portfolio. A research monograph or extended paper normally contains 15,000 to 25,000 words, excluding references and appendices, unless another format is approved in the research plan. A reviewer independent of the mentor assesses the final work against the approved plan. Corrections may be required before completion is recorded.
Prior doctoral work may inform the project, but the fellowship must demonstrate a further contribution. Paid publication is not required for completion, and the fee does not purchase journal acceptance.
Duration and Advanced Standing
The normal fellowship lasts 12 months. A nine-month intensive plan is possible only with an approved workload schedule. A shorter advanced-standing plan requires formal assessment of relevant work beyond the doctorate and a written statement of the remaining requirements. Duration is agreed individually rather than promised in advance.
Entry and Application
Submit the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral certificates with transcripts or applicable research records, a current CV, identification, a research proposal and evidence of readiness to complete the project in English. Admission depends on academic review, research feasibility and available mentorship.
Applicants seeking assessment of existing postdoctoral research can review the separate VAE Pathway. Its requirements and fees are distinct from the direct mentored fellowship.
Fees and Documents
As SABI University is a proud member of the Canada-based North Pacific Education Group, all fees are assessed in Canadian Dollars (CAD).
| Standard mentored fellowship | Amount |
|---|---|
| Fellowship fee | CAD 12,000 |
| Application fee, non-refundable | CAD 500 |
| Total standard fellowship cost | CAD 12,500 |
The fellowship fee covers the normal twelve-month research affiliation, agreed mentorship, standard academic review and completion documents. All fees are in Canadian dollars (CAD).
The offer and agreement identify the mentorship, resources, assessment and documents included, payment dates, refund terms and any optional delivery or legalisation services. The approved local-supervision route has a single inclusive total of CAD 9,000, without an additional application charge. It requires a recommendation from an appointed Local Faculty member and SABI’s academic acceptance. The agreement identifies the location and mode of supervision, language arrangements and included services. Existing written commitments remain in force. Successful fellows receive a completion certificate, an assessed research record, an e-certificate and a QR-linked verification record. Records identify the fellowship as non-degree research training.
ECTS and US semester-credit figures describe the same assessed learning and workload using SABI’s institutional comparison. The figures are not added together. Transfer or acceptance of credit is determined by the receiving institution.
