SABI University Alumni Honours

SABI University Alumni Honours recognise alumni whose professional achievements, standing and contributions embody the values expressed in the University's motto.

The honours are conferred on merit by the Office of the President. There is no application process, and no fee is charged at any stage. All recipients must be alumni of SABI University in good standing.

Subject to the inaugural provision below, advancement to Levels 2 through 5 requires at least twelve months at the preceding level, together with demonstrated further achievement or contribution during that period. Length of service alone does not justify advancement, and receipt of one honour creates no entitlement to another. Conferral at every level remains at the sole discretion of the Office of the President.

Annual conferrals are limited to five Scientia Awards, three Memberships of the Adscensus Circle, two Fellowships of the Gloria Circle and one Lions' Medal. These are maximum limits. Where no suitable recipient is identified, no honour is conferred at that level.

In 2026 only, the Office of the President may confer the Scientia Award on the basis of a recipient's existing, documented record of professional achievement.

For these inaugural conferrals, the requirements to complete twelve months of satisfactory service as a SABI Alumni Ambassador and to demonstrate further achievement during that service period are waived. Recipients must already be SABI Alumni Ambassadors or receive that appointment concurrently.

All other eligibility criteria, merit standards and selection requirements apply, including the annual limit of five Scientia Awards.

The inaugural exception does not extend to the Adscensus Circle, the Gloria Circle or the Lions' Medal. These honours may be conferred from 2027 onward only when the applicable progression requirements have been met.

Membership of the Adscensus Circle and Fellowship of the Gloria Circle continue indefinitely unless withdrawn under the procedure set out below.

The appointment of SABI Alumni Ambassador is for a fixed two-year term and requires renewal to continue.

Candidates are identified by the Office of the President and through confidential written recommendations from faculty, existing recipients and University officers.

Recommendations are reviewed against the published criteria for the relevant level. A written recommendation is prepared for the President before any conferral. Anyone with a personal or commercial interest in a candidate must take no part in that candidate's review.

No payment of any kind is connected to selection or conferral.

Enrolment in a SABI University programme, payment of programme or assessment fees, introduction or recruitment of applicants, and donations to the University confer no entitlement to an honour and no preferential consideration for advancement.

Referral numbers and resulting enrolment revenue do not count towards the merit requirements of any level.

Where contribution to the University forms part of the criteria, it means documented service and its demonstrated effect. Such service may include mentoring, assessment or advisory work, teaching, speaking, or alumni leadership.

For the purposes of the Alumni Honours, eligible alumni are graduates of SABI University degree programmes and holders of SABI University Executive Certificates.

To be considered in good standing, their credentials must be recorded as valid and not revoked in the University's verification system, and they must not be subject to a formal University review concerning academic or professional integrity.
